USA Today from Washington, has reported that the Justice Department had urged federal courts to detain men who have been accused of sexual harassments and crimes for an indefinite period. This request by the Justice Department will help cast a wider net on alleged sexual predators who will have to serve a lock up term until declared fit to set free by the psychologists.

This move will definitely provide higher levels of justice to victims who have been molested or been inflicted with other "sexually violent "crimes by sex offenders. The law would apply to criminals who have been proven as mentally ill in their sexual accusations and also to those who have committed non-violent acts which have not resulted in any physical harm (Example obscene phone calls, exhibitionism or other forms of non-physical sexual abuse.)

It is feared by critics that the Government's interpretation may give the Justice Department lawyers and the prison psychologists too much authority in deciding the prison terms of convicts. Eric Janus, a reputed law professor and student of civil commitment laws has said that, "This is the government exercising its most awesome power based on very, very vaguely worded standards". However with the increasing levels of sexual crimes in college campuses, neighborhoods and schools it is important that justice is delivered in the best manner.

A Monitor has been hired by the Supreme Court to look into the juvenile justice system of the state of West Virginia. The move has been taken amidst concerns, of the state being focused on punishing children for unlawful acts instead of channelizing their potentials into functional activities and making them responsible adults.

Last year the Supreme Court had appointed a commission to look into the activities of the juvenile justice system. Margaret Workman, Chief Justice at that time was troubled with reports of doubtful activities at the Industrial Home for Youth in Salem, a state facility for juveniles. Appointing the monitor, Cindy Largent- Hill is another step in the direction of giving better justice to the juvenile undertrials. The monitor, formerly a director of the Division of Juvenile Services, will be looking at the entire juvenile justice system in the state and report back to the Supreme Court after interfacing with judges sentencing juveniles.

Ms. Largent Hill was of the view that the juvenile offenders had drug related issues or were victims of abuse which needed to be treated in a human manner rather than their earlier treatment as punks. Moreover the aim was to reform the juvenile prisoners so that they do not move from juvenile prison camps to adult jails.

Polo Tycoon, John Goodman, who was found guilty of DUI manslaughter and vehicular homicide in March, 2012 has agreed to a settlement of $ 46 million with the parents of 23 years old Scott Wilson, according to DUI lawyers handling the case. The amount was disclosed on Wednesday, 18th April 2012, when the motion for bond was filed.
The DUI lawyers fighting the case for Goodman had filed a motion for a new trial which was based on alleged misconduct by the juror, in the hope of getting Goodman out of the prison pending his appeal. He could have faced imprisonment up to 30 years when he was sentenced on April 30th last year.

In another news report by the San Francisco Chronicle on the 19th of April, Santa Rosa, DUI Lawyer, Jon.W.Woolsey has spoken out against continuous police use of template DUI arrests reports as a regular tool in investigations. The office of the DUI lawyer 's law firm took notice of the "Xeroxed DUI symptoms" practice, when very similar DUI arrest reports from the same California Highway Patrol office were noticed in separate cases.

DUI lawyer Jon Woolsey said, "I began to dig deeper, and I found that these two suspects did almost everything identical, right down to a description of the breath test advisement where the suspects both agreed to do the PAS, preliminary alcohol-screening test,"
According to this DUI lawyer from Santa Rosa, Law enforcement reporting of investigations and arrests are coming under scrutiny for using the report of one suspect to report the observations, actions and statements of another suspect days or sometimes even months later.
